IMAGINE . . .A FAIR TRADE CRAFT GALLERY HOSTS GATHERING TO HELP ABILENE BASED ETERNAL THREADS EMPOWER POOR AND EXPLOITED WOMEN THROUGHOUT THE WORLD.

On Saturday, October 8., 2011 from 10am-7pm, Imagine Will Showcase Fair Trade Products from Twelve Countries, and Host Speakers Addressing the Work Being Done to Combat Poverty and Exploitation.
Eternal Threads is a non-profit organization, established in 2000, and dedicated to improving the lives of women and children most at risk of extreme poverty, trafficking and other forms of exploitation.  Eternal Threads provides sustainable livelihoods through income generating projects that directly pay a fair and living wage.  Additionally, the proceeds from sales help fund vocational training, anti-trafficking border units and literacy programs.
In addition to this unique shopping experience, we will have a speaker to present information about the Red Thread Movement, which was co-founded by Eternal Threads to generate awareness of the global human rights crime of sexual slavery, raise financial support for efforts to end sex trafficking in Nepal, and educate girls in Nepal to actively prevent sex trafficking on the front lines.
We will also hear from Dottie Laster, an expert on the human trafficking problem right here in Texas.  Laster started Laster Global Consulting to train and consult those combating this fast growing crime.  She also serves as the Trafficking Coordinator for The Bernardo Kohler Foundation and hosts the Internet radio talk show Trafficked on Here Women Talk Radio. She was appointed to the U. S. Attorney's Human Trafficking Rescue Alliance, and as a part of this task force, has trained over 5,000 police officers on the issue of Human Trafficking.
Between speakers we will have live music, snacks, and more fair trade shopping!  Come browse the beautiful handcrafted items made by skilled artisans in these exotic countries. Hand-crocheted totes and lace from India; hand-loomed silk scarves and shawls, handmade paper, and engaging raffia items from Madagascar; hand-knitted woolen items and jewelry from Nepal; beautifully hand-crafted jewelry using semi-precious stones from Afghanistan and Thailand, and much, much more from Ghana, Uganda, Nigeria, Mongolia, Peru, Bulgaria and the Philippines.
With your Eternal Threads purchase, you not only possess a quality item that you will treasure. You also give a gift of hope to a woman in the developing world. Join us in “weaving hope and justice” into the lives of hundreds of families. Your single purchase really does make a difference.
