When I was first asked to consult on this case it was before any of the bodies had been found. It was before this became a serial killer case. A family was looking for help to find their missing loved one, a mother, daughter, niece- Megan Waterman. She was young and vibrant and had a beautiful little girl who LOVED her mommy. Megan’s family also knew Megan LOVED her daughter and would not leave her. It quickly became clear that Megan was in grave danger.
According to the Trafficking Victims Protection Act anyone who is in commercial sex due to force, fraud or coercion is a victim of trafficking- anyone who is recruits, harbors, transports, obtains or maintains a person who is forced or coerced into commercial sex is in violation of the Trafficking Victims Protection Act. If a person dies due to the trafficking, everyone involved in the trafficking scheme is responsible for her death and faces criminal and civil penalties.
When you understand this case you soon learn about the organized schemes that coerced the woman and one man to their death. These were not people who just made unfortunate choices. They were targeted and taken into a web of deceit, violence and coercion. It is up the public to demand the truth about this series of crimes and to hold all the parties responsible in addition to the serial killer.
